Two, including minor, held for nurse's murder
Meerut, Sept. 3 -- A truck driver and his 17-year-old accomplice were recently arrested for strangling a nurse to death on August 24 in Moradabad's Sahaspur, police said.
Samreen, 22, hailed from Sahaspur village and worked at a private clinic in Saifni. On the day of the incident, she didn't return home from work. The next day, her father filed a missing person's report at Bilari police station. Tracing her last location to a forest near Chakfazalpur village under Kundarki police station, police found out that her last conversation had been with Gause Alam, the truck driver.
Alam was detained with the help of Kundarki police. During interrogation, he admitted to strangling Samreen and disposing of her body. Acting on his lead, police recovered the nurse's body late Saturday night from a sugarcane field in Chakfazalpur forest.
Following this, Samreen's father lodged an FIR against Alam and the minor boy for kidnapping, murder, and destruction of evidence. The two were arrested on Sunday afternoon. Police also seized a motorcycle used in the crime and the accused's mobile phone. Alam was jailed, while the minor was kept in a juvenile home.
Station house officer Uday Pratap Singh confirmed that the murder was premeditated. Alam told police that he had been in contact with Samreen for about one and a half months through Instagram. During an encounter, she had recorded a video of him while he dropped her home from her clinic.
Using this video, she allegedly began blackmailing him, pressuring him to marry her and threatening to file a case if he refused.
Alam confessed to luring Samreen to Bilari on the pretext of shopping on August 24. Later, he and the minor boy choked her to death in a sugarcane field.
Then, the two fled the scene and destroyed her SIM card and threw her purse and mobile phone into a river before leaving for Rudrapur....
