Lucknow, Feb. 10 -- A truck rammed into a row of electricity poles in the Para police station area on Sunday night, bringing down 13 power poles and plunging the entire Gyanendra Vihar locality into darkness. The accident disrupted power supply to nearly 2,000 residents besides causing a loss to the electricity department. The power supply was restored on Monday afternoon. The incident occurred around 7 pm, when the truck, driven by Imran, a resident of Makkhangunj in Bhojpur area of Moradabad district, lost control while passing through Gyanendra Vihar Main Road and crashed into roadside power infrastructure. Officials said the damage affected poles, cables, and other electrical equipment. Following the incident, a team from the Lucknow Electricity Supply Administration rushed to the spot. Junior engineer Mohd Arshad inspected the damage and lodged a written complaint at Para police station, citing the driver's negligence as the primary cause of the accident. Residents said the prolonged power outage also disrupted water supply and the functioning of local shops.
