LUCKNOW, Sept. 20 -- The transport department has recommended suspension or cancellation of the recognition of the private school after the bus fire incident. An inspection of 17 other vehicles at the school found 13 with expired permits and fitness certificates, officials said. ARTO (enforcement) Alok Kumar Yadav recommended the action, citing lapses in ensuring student safety. Officials said the bus that caught fire was registered in Etah. Though the bus had an NOC to operate in Lucknow, it had not been registered with the local transport office. Its fitness certificate had expired on January 12, 2026, insurance on January 5 and PUC certificate on November 18, 2025. Its permit was also found to be invalid. Principal Vishnu Dhar Tiwari claimed that the incident was "not as serious as it has been made out to be".
