LUCKNOW, June 21 -- Four buses running on routes to Akbarpur, Tanda and Lakhimpur Kheri were seized in Lucknow on Friday after transport authorities allegedly found them violating permit conditions by carrying passengers like stage carriage buses and parking illegally on city roads. The action was carried out during a joint enforcement drive in and around the Qaisarbagh transport hub, a major departure point for buses bound for several districts of eastern Uttar Pradesh. According to transport officials, the buses were operating under All Uttar Pradesh permits but were allegedly being used to pick up and drop passengers at multiple points, a practice typically associated with stage carriage operations. Officials also said the vehicles were found parked on public roads in the Hanumant Dham-Hazratganj stretch and in parts of the Residency area. All four buses were seized and taken to Awadh Depot. Transport authorities said reports of the violations would be sent to the state transport authority for further action against the permit holders. "The vehicles were found to be operating in violation of their permit conditions and were also parked without authorisation. Necessary proceedings are being initiated in accordance with the rules," said Prabhat Pandey, RTO (Enforcement). The action comes amid ongoing complaints about private buses operating from unauthorised locations in and around the city rather than from designated bus terminals.htc...
