LUCKNOW, Sept. 15 -- Top seed Jatin Nain of Haryana began his campaign with a convincing 6-4, 6-2 victory over Delhi's Daksh Singh in the main draw of the 3rd KL Garg AITA Men's Tennis Tournament on Monday, at the SDS Tennis Academy here.. Nain controlled the match from the baseline and maintained his composure in the important points to register a straight-set win. His Haryana compatriot Prashant also made a confident start, defeating Uttar Pradesh's Vansh Yadav 6-3, 6-1. The day witnessed several impressive performances, with players from Haryana, Delhi, Gujarat, West Bengal, Tamil Nadu, Telangana, Karnataka, Punjab, Assam and Maharashtra progressing in the competition. Fifth seed Sunil Kumar of Haryana overcame Uttar Pradesh's Rishi Yadav 7-6(3), 6-3 in a closely contested encounter. Rishi pushed his seeded opponent in the opening set, but Kumar held his nerve in the tie-break before sealing the match in the second set. West Bengal's Mayand Tewary recorded a notable 6-4, 6-1 win over third seed Ayush of Rajasthan. Seventh seed Aditya Kumar of Punjab dominated Yagna Pradip of Gujarat 6-1, 6-1, while Delhi's Ricky recovered from a first-set setback to defeat eighth seed Jagmeet of Haryana 3-6, 6-3, 6-2. Haryana's Shiva beat Chhattisgarh's Emon 7-6(7), 6-2. Tamil Nadu's Pagalavan edged Uttar Pradesh's Anshuman 6-4, 5-7, 6-4. Sixth seed Aditya Mor of Haryana defeated Harsh Malik 7-5, 6-2, while Telangana's Devarapalli Akhil beat Haryana's Arntya 6-3, 6-2.
