PRAYAGRAJ, Aug. 26 -- The Railway Protection Force (RPF) arrested three youths for allegedly disrupting train operations by covering four railway signals with black plastic and cloth on the Jasra-Madarha route. The trio was remanded to judicial custody on Tuesday. During interrogation, the suspects confessed to planning a train robbery and admitted to cutting a railway signal cable in a separate incident 10 days ago, officials said. Police recovered the stolen signal cable from their possession. The incident occurred around 1:00 am on Sunday, when four consecutive signals between the Jasra and Madarha stations were found obscured. According to the RPF, the accused intended to force a train to slow down or come to a halt, enabling them to strike passengers through open doors and windows with sticks and snatch valuables. However, the alert loco pilots of the Barauni-Gondia Express and the Banaras-Hubballi Express noticed the obstructed signals, exercised caution, and navigated directly to Madarha station before reporting the anomaly to railway authorities. Following an investigation led by Naini RPF inspector Chandrabhushan Prasad, a night patrol team spotted and detained the three suspects near the Shankargarh power plant late Monday night.
