VARANASI, March 15 -- Police in Jaunpur on March 12 arrested three criminals who had allegedly carried out a robbery in Gosaipur village under the Jafrabad police station area of the district on March 11. The accused were identified with the help of the Yaksha App. The unidentified robbers looted cash and belongings from a Common Service Centre (CSC) operator in Gosaipur village under the Jafrabad police station area of Jaunpur on March 11. Following the incident, a case was registered under Sections 309(4) and 109(1) of the BNS. After receiving information about the crime, Jaunpur Superintendent of Police Kunwar Anupam Singh directed the police to solve the case and ensure the arrest of the accused. Jaunpur Police swiftly acted and used the Yaksh App during the investigation. An officer said police teams were deployed to crack the case and arrest the robbers. While investigating the case, Jaunpur Police used the Yaksh App to identify CCTV cameras around the crime scene. The footage helped teams identify suspects and trace the offenders' possible movement routes before and after the incident. Based on route analysis, investigators identified three possible police station areas-Kerakat, Chandwak, and Gaurabadshahpur-from where the offenders could have originated. Using the Yaksh App's database, police retrieved details of 232 individuals previously involved in robbery and snatching cases in the three police station areas. Their photographs were shown to the victim, and based on the analysis, three suspects were identified within hours, said additional superintendent of police Goldie Gupta. The ASP said police received information about criminals near Belav Bridge under Zafrabad police station on Thursday night. When the team tried to stop them, the accused opened fire, leading to an encounter. One criminal suffered a gunshot injury to the leg and two others were arrested. A sub-inspector was also injured, while a bullet hit SHO Shri Prakash Shukla's bulletproof jacket, and he escaped unhurt. The arrested criminals were identified as Adarsh Yadav, Aman Yadav, and another accomplice. Deputy inspector general of police, Varanasi range, Vaibhav Krishna said the Yaksh App helped analyse CCTV footage and identify the criminals, who were arrested within hours of the incident. He added that the app stores multi-angle photographs of criminals, making it easier for victims to confirm the accused's identity.
