Three killed, 12 injured as pickup jeep overturns in Sonbhadra
Varanasi, May 14 -- Three people were killed and 12 others sustained injuries after a pickup jeep carrying a wedding procession overturned in a ditch near Khadiya Turn on the Ramgarh-Siltham-Patna route in Sonbhadra district on Tuesday night. The accident took place under the Rampur Barkonia police station area.
The deceased were identified as Rajan Gond ,18, Vinod Gond ,20, and Ajay Gond ,35, all residents of Chandari Bandh Gond Pathra village under the Marihan police station area of Mirzapur district. According to police, the wedding procession was travelling from Chandari Bandh village in Mirzapur to Magardah village in Sonbhadra. The pickup jeep was carrying around 20 passengers. As the vehicle reached Khadiya Turn, the driver lost control and the vehicle overturned into a ditch.
Local residents rushed to the spot and informed the police. Soon after, six ambulances reached the area and shifted the injured to Chatra hospital for treatment. Doctors later referred 10 critically injured persons to the district hospital after primary treatment.
Dr Satish Patel, medical officer-in-charge at Chatra hospital, said six of the injured had suffered fractures in their arms, legs, waist and other body parts.
Among those injured were Ashish ,12, Golu ,13, Ram Ashish ,11, Shyam Sundar ,16, Ram Janam ,14, and Akash ,15, all residents of Chandari Bandh village in Mirzapur district. Four others who suffered minor injuries were treated and later discharged from the hospital. District magistrate Charchit Gaur visited the district hospital and medical college during the night and directed doctors to provide the best possible treatment to the injured....
