PRAYAGRAJ, Aug. 5 -- The bodies of three hearing and speech impaired ragpickers were found in a rented house barely 100 metres from Prayagraj Junction railway station on Tuesday morning. Despite hours of investigation and questioning, police had not been able to establish the identities of the deceased till the filing of this report. According to local residents, a couple, believed to be in the 40-45 age group, had been living in the room for the past six months in a house owned by Sushila Devi in Gadikala locality. The couple earned their livelihood by collecting recyclable waste. Residents said another woman used to visit the room occasionally. The house owner alerted Shahganj police after finding the three bodies inside the room on Tuesday morning. A police team led by Shahganj station house officer Vaibhav Singh reached the spot and launched an investigation. However, no identity documents were found in the room, making it difficult to identify the victims. SHO Vaibhav Singh said the male victim had head injuries, with preliminary findings suggesting that he may have been attacked with a small LPG cylinder found at the scene. The two women bore injury marks on their faces and bodies, indicating a struggle. Police also recovered food remnants and tetra packs of liquor from the room. Deputy commissioner of police (City) Manish Shandilya said the initial investigation suggested that the killings may have resulted from a violent altercation among the occupants. "Prima facie, it appears that a dispute escalated into a fatal assault. The bodies have been sent for post-mortem examination, and further investigation is underway," he said. Police are examining all possible angles, including the victims' backgrounds and recent movements, to ascertain their identities and establish the motive behind the crime....
