New Delhi, Aug. 27 -- Wednesday's devastating floods broke out on the Lhende Khola river in Nepal, a tributary of the Bhote Koshi - the local name for the upper Trishuli as it flows south from Gyirong in Tibet into Rasuwa district. The Bhote Koshi feeds the Trishuli river, which then runs south through Rasuwa and Nuwakot, before meeting the Kali Gandaki river on the edge of Chitwan district. From that confluence the combined river is called the Narayani, and swings southwest. Nepali officials aware of the matter said the six districts that are worst affected - Rasuwa, Nuakot, Gorkha, Dhading, Chitwan - are all located along the river's path, caking large swathes of them in mud, rock and debris. The Narayani crosses into India at Triveni, near Valmikinagar in Bihar's West Champaran district, and from the border is known as the Gandak. It runs around 300km southeast through Champaran, Gopalganj, Saran and Muzaffarpur, and joins the Ganga near Patna at the Sonpur - a left-bank tributary of the Ganga....
