India, Sept. 12 -- In post World War II Germany, the far-Right had remained a marginal force - that is, up until now. After becoming the second-largest party in Bundestag following the 2025 federal elections, the Alternative fur Deutschland (AfD), or Alternative for Germany, again found resounding endorsement from the German public in a recent state election. In The German New Right, academic Jay Julian Rossellini explains why AfD and other far-Right outfits are suddenly not fringe parties anymore. It looks at the cultural currents that have fanned Right-wing politics in Germany and their dramatis personae in the country's literary circles - thinkers and authors whose work has helped normalise anti-immigrant, anti-Islamic, and socially conservative thought in the political mainline in Germany.
