Temperatures surge, may touch 30degC soon
LUCKNOW, Feb. 9 -- Winter's grip is loosening across the state as day temperatures surge past normal levels in multiple districts, with forecasters predicting mercury could breach the 30-degree Celsius mark within days.
Temperatures may rise after strong winds have subsided. With no active weather system anticipated in the next 24 hours, mercury is likely to climb by 2 to 3 degrees Celsius over the coming days, the weatherman said on Sunday.
Banda recorded the warmest day at 28.8 degrees Celsius, 2.2 degrees above normal. BHU Varanasi saw mercury touch 28.5 degrees, 3.1 degrees above normal, while Jhansi recorded 28.4 degrees, 2.6 degrees above normal. Prayagraj registered 27.5 degrees, 1.8 degrees above normal. Lucknow recorded a maximum temperature of 25.8 degrees Celsius on Sunday, with the minimum at 11.1 degrees. The city is forecast to have clear skies with shallow morning fog. Maximum temperature will hover around 26, while minimum will be near 10 degrees....
