LUCKNOW, June 15 -- The regional meteorological centre (RMC), Lucknow, forecast a return of hot, humid and sultry weather conditions across UP, with temperatures expected to climb by 5 to 7degC over the coming week. This shift follows a reduction in the recent spells of thunderstorms and rain that occurred across the state since Sunday. The anticipated temperature rise is attributed to the interaction between a Western Disturbance centered near Haryana and moist easterly winds in the lower troposphere, which are feeding into a weather trough extending from central Pakistan to Bangladesh. Despite it, the likelihood of a heatwave remains low. Meteorological conditions are not currently favourable for the further advancement of the monsoon into Uttar Pradesh. On Sunday, Lucknow recorded a maximum temperature of 38degC and a minimum of 26.6degC. The Monday forecast for the city indicates mainly clear skies, with temperatures expected to hover around a maximum of 39degC and a minimum of 27degC. The state forecast suggests that rain and thundershowers are likely in isolated areas. The India meteorological department (IMD) has issued a warning for West UP stating that thunderstorms and lightning accompanied by gusty winds (40-50 kmph) are likely in isolated places. While in East UP, thunderstorms and lightning accompanied by gusty winds (50-60 kmph, gusting up to 70 kmph) are expected in isolated areas. On Sunday, Banda was recorded as the hottest district in the state, with a maximum temperature of 42.4degC.
