LUCKNOW, June 20 -- Tejas Singh and Saundarya Jaiswal won the boys and girls singles titles, respectively at the Under-14 AITA Championship Series, at the Vijayant Khand Stadium here on Friday. Third-seed Tejas Singh staged a memorable upset over top seed Haris Khan. Haris started strongly, claiming the first set 6-4, but Tejas fought back with renewed focus to take the second 7-5. In a tense decider, Tejas held his nerve and closed out the match 6-4, lifting the trophy after a hard-fought three-set battle that showcased his resilience and tactical growth. In the girls singles final, second-seed Saundarya Jaiswal defeated top-seed Anaya Sen in a closely contested match. The match was stopped and recorded as 4-4 (considered) due to circumstances on court; however, Saundarya was declared the winner, earning the championship after an evenly matched contest that highlighted both players' shot-making and competitive spirit. Athletes from Azamgarh asserted their dominance by winning four gold medals on the opening day of the Uttar Pradesh State-level Pencak Silat Championship, at the Chowk Stadium here on Friday.
