PRAYAGRAJ, April 30 -- A 14-year-old boy drowned in a canal on Wednesday morning while bathing with friends, just hours before his uncle's wedding procession was scheduled. He was pronounced dead at the Community Health Centre (CHC). Atul Vishwakarma, a resident of Raipur Bharkhi village under the Kunda Kotwali police jurisdiction, was scheduled to have his wedding procession on Wednesday. Amidst the festivities, his 14-year-old son, Arpit Vishwakarma, went with friends on Wednesday morning to bathe in the adjacent canal. While bathing, he drifted into deeper water and began to drown. When his friends raised an alarm, neighbors rushed to the spot and, after a prolonged effort, managed to pull him out. Arpit had already lost consciousness by the time he was retrieved. Panicked, family members rushed him to the CHC, where doctors pronounced him dead upon arrival.
