LUCKNOW, Sept. 6 -- A 15-year-old girl died in Malihabad on Friday morning after she allegedly consumed rat poison, mistaking it for a painkiller, police said. The incident took place around 7am. The girl, identified as Shejal, was taken to a nearby private hospital after her condition deteriorated. Doctors asked her family about the medicine she had taken. The family later checked the medicine container at home and realised that Shejal had accidentally consumed rat poison instead of a painkiller. They informed the doctors. As her condition was critical, she was referred to the community health centre in Malihabad. A 37-year-old transporter from Madeyganj was found dead in the Haider Canal drain in Hazratganj, around 5 km from his home, two days after he went missing.
