GORAKHPUR, Feb. 8 -- Two people were killed and one sustained critical injuries after a speeding SUV, allegedly carrying cattle smugglers, overturned during a police chase near Gaur Bazar in Deoria late on Friday night. According to police, officers had received specific information about the suspected smugglers and were conducting vehicle checks in the area. When a suspicious vehicle was stopped for inspection, an SUV following it suddenly sped away. Police immediately initiated a chase and alerted nearby police stations to set up barricades. Circle officer (Deoria) Hari Ram Yadav said the SUV driver attempted to break through barricades, rammed into several vehicles, and tried to evade the police at high speed. The driver reportedly lost control after encountering a tractor, hit a divider, and the vehicle overturned. The occupants were rushed to a nearby hospital, where Manisha Yadav, 27, and Vishal Kumar, 29, were declared dead. Another person remains in critical condition and is undergoing treatment. Police confirmed that a police vehicle was also damaged during the pursuit. Further investigation is underway to trace the suspects' links to an alleged cattle smuggling network....
