Students hail education min's resignation as 'moral victory'
LUCKNOW, July 27 -- A day after Union education minister Dharmendra Pradhan resigned, hundreds of youngsters gathered at 1090 Crossing on Sunday evening to celebrate what they described as a "victory of students' unity" after weeks of protests over the NEET paper leak issue.
The gathering, organised by youth groups, saw participants raising slogans.
Addressing the gathering, several youngsters said the resignation was a "moral victory" for students and aspirants who had participated in the protests.
They, however, maintained that their larger demand for accountability, transparency and comprehensive reforms in the examination and recruitment process remained unchanged.
The event remained peaceful, drawing a large number of students and young protesters to the prominent city intersection. The celebration marked a shift from weeks of demonstrations to a symbolic show of solidarity and collective achievement....
