LUCKNOW, July 31 -- The Uttar Pradesh State Lalit Kala Akademi on Thursday announced a series of measures to improve academic facilities and student welfare, including displaying its permanent art collection, shifting classes to rooms with better ventilation, introducing counselling support and proposing curriculum changes, during an interaction between students and director Shraddha Shukla during the 'Campus Collective Meet - Chai, Baat aur Badlav' programme. Students pointed out that the Akademi's permanent collection of paintings, sculptures and other artworks by renowned artists was rarely displayed, leaving new students unaware of the institution's artistic heritage. It was decided that whenever the gallery is not booked for external exhibitions, the collection will be exhibited for 15 days, with each display focusing on a single artist or a particular art style. Students also complained about poor ventilation and inadequate lighting in classrooms on the ground floor of the old building. Shukla directed that classes be shifted back to the upper floors. As girl students highlighted personal and health-related issues affecting their studies, the director said counselling and health support would be arranged, with staff assigned to assist students. Students also sought permission to borrow library books, educational visits to museums and artisans, and drafting tables for practical work. Shukla said a separate budget would be sought for art books, a book donation drive launched, and educational tours organised.
