LUCKNOW, July 12 -- A 23-year-old doctor of pharmacy (Pharm-D) student has alleged that a senior functionary of a private university sexually harassed her, abused her on caste lines and threatened her, leading to the registration of an FIR against three persons following a court order. The FIR was registered at Gudamba police station under Sections 74 (assault or criminal force to a woman with intent to outrage her modesty), 351(3) (criminal intimidation) and 352 (intentional insult) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, along with Section 3(2)(va) of the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, confirmed SHO Gudamba Anjani Mishra. Police said the case was registered on the directions of a court. According to the complaint, the student, who belongs to a Scheduled Caste community, underwent surgery in April 2025 and failed two fourth-semester papers. She alleged that on February 16, 2026, she met the senior university official to seek help regarding her academic issues. During the meeting, the official allegedly offered to help her clear her examinations and obtain a fee waiver in exchange for a sexual relationship.
