LUCKNOW, Aug. 17 -- Stones were allegedly pelted at a Lucknow Municipal Corporation (LMC) animal welfare team during an enforcement drive in Para on Sunday, injuring several civic employees and damaging three government vehicles. The team, accompanied by police personnel, was conducting the drive in the Para police station area under Zone-6 when some dairy owners and unidentified persons opposed the action and began pelting stones at the staff and vehicles, officials alleged. However, the team caught 18 buffaloes and shifted them to the cattle shelter in Thakurganj. Avadhesh Kumar, in-charge of the Zone-6 animal welfare department, lodged a complaint at Para police station. LMC animal welfare officer Abhinav Verma said the complaint cited damage to government property, injuries to civic employees and obstruction of official work.
