STF arrests wanted Koraon cattle slaughter case accused from Bihar
PRAYAGRAJ, Oct. 7 -- The Special Task Force (STF) on Monday evening arrested a wanted accused carrying a reward of Rs.50,000 in connection with a cattle slaughter case registered at Koraon police station of Prayagraj, an STF officer said on Tuesday.
The accused, identified as Mahfooz, a resident of Chamraua under Shahzadnagar police station in Rampur, was arrested from Islampur in Nalanda district of Bihar around 5.15pm on October 5, the officer said.
Abdul Qadir, additional superintendent of police, STF Bareilly field unit, said the team had been collecting intelligence on wanted and reward-carrying criminals in different districts of UP. Acting on the information, a team led by sub-inspector Dhoom Singh reached Nalanda and arrested Mahfooz on the tip-off, he said. According to the STF, Mahfooz was wanted in case crime number 271/2025 registered at Koraon police station under sections 3/5-A/8 of the Uttar Pradesh Prevention of Cow Slaughter Act, section 11-D of the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act, section 325 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and section 4/25 of the Arms Act.
A reward of Rs.50,000 had been declared for his arrest.
During interrogation, Mahfooz allegedly told the STF officials that the case was registered on October 9, 2025, and that his car, bearing registration number UP 14 C 3434, had also been seized in the case....
