STF arrests 2 from Bengal in Rs.68L share market investment frauds
Dehradun, Aug. 28 -- Uttarakhand Special Task Force (STF) has arrested two alleged members of an interstate cybercrime gang from West Bengal in connection with two cases involving fraud of around Rs.68 lakh, in which victims were allegedly lured with promises of high returns on share market and IPO investments.
The accused were identified as Rakesh Kumar Rajak, 40, a resident of West Baranagar in Kolkata, and Syed Shadab Ali alias Karim Bhai, 32, a resident of Garden Reach in Kolkata.
According to the STF, the arrests were made in West Bengal's 24 Parganas district following an investigation into two cyber fraud cases registered at the Cyber Crime Police Station, Dehradun. SSP (STF) Ajai Singh said in the first case, the complainant was allegedly contacted by people posing as individuals associated with the share market in India and the United States. The complainant was induced to deposit a total of Rs.47.63 lakh between October 16 and November 18, 2025, police said.
He said in the second case, another complainant allegedly deposited Rs.18.54 lakh into different bank accounts in October 2025. Police also found over 19 cybercrime complaints linked to the bank account on the National Cybercrime Reporting Portal (NCRP), indicating its use in multiple cyber fraud cases....
