State Museum to open new sculpture gallery for young visitors
Lucknow, May 18 -- The UP State Museum in Lucknow will open a new Western-style sculpture gallery on International Museum Day on May 19. The move is part of the museum's effort to make cultural spaces more interactive and appealing to young people.
The museum will also launch a month-long textile exhibition titled 'Aadiyogi Shiv: A Journey in Cosmic Indigo'. The exhibition will continue till June 19 at the museum's temporary gallery. Additional chief secretary for tourism and culture, Amrit Abhijat, said the exhibition will showcase the spiritual journey of Lord Shiva through textiles, traditional designs and modern artistic ideas. Several well-known academicians and artists, including Mandavi Singh, Rajeev Nayan and Sangeeta Gupta, are expected to attend the inauguration programme. To attract younger audiences, the museum will organise inter-college quiz and essay competitions, along with a university-level canvas painting contest.
