Stalin says Vijay-led TVK govt won't last even 3 months in Tamil Nadu
Chennai, June 8 -- Former Tamil Nadu chief minister MK Stalin on Sunday took a dig at the ruling Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) government saying it will not last for even six months and that people have already started criticising it, while backtracking on his earlier statement that he would watch TVK's performance without interference for six months.
Stalin said there have been talks about the government's functioning.
"There is no need for me to explain what kind of government is running today. Already, after this government took charge, I had said that we would not speak about its (TVK's) governance for six months. However, a situation has arisen today where we might need to speak before those six months are over," the DMK chief said at an event in Chennai.
Without naming the ruling party or the chief minister C Joseph Vijay, Stalin said: "Many people are already talking about it, and criticism is mounting. It is not a question of six months, five months or even four months. The question now is whether this government will last even three months."
Soon after TVK emerged victorious in the April 23 assembly elections, Stalin had reportedly said his party would wait for the government's formation and watch its performance without interference for six months.
Responding to the criticism, TVK minister A Rajmohan said that his party would continue with public support for 50 years and beyond. "Earlier, he (Stalin) said we would not win and form the government. But we have formed the government (today). Now, he is saying that the government will not last for five years...," he had said earlier....
