LUCKNOW, July 7 -- Samajwadi Party president Akhilesh Yadav on Monday declared that his party's victory in the 2027 UP Assembly elections is crucial for the survival of democracy and the Constitution in India. Addressing a gathering of party leaders, MPs, MLAs, former legislators and booth-level workers at the party's state headquarters here, Yadav said the BJP is systematically trying to dismantle democratic institutions and replace them with a new form of "democracy". Citing the recent West Bengal elections, he alleged that the BJP gained control over central security forces and the administration, using pre-planned Intelligence Bureau reports to strategically post officers and secure victory through "deceit and manipulation".
