MEERUT, May 20 -- An FIR was registered in Muzaffarnagar district on Tuesday against Samajwadi Party national spokesperson Rajkumar Bhati for allegedly making objectionable remarks against the Brahmin community, police officials said. According to officials, case was registered at the Civil Lines police station based on a complaint lodged by Jasvir Singh. Senior superintendent of police Sanjay Kumar told reporters that FIR was registered under sections 356 (defamation) and 196 (promoting enmity between different groups on grounds of religion, race, etc) of the BNS, and an investigation had been initiated. Police said organisations, including the Jat Mahasabha, protested and submitted a memorandum to the SSP seeking strict action against Bhati over his alleged remarks against the Brahmin community.htc...
