LUCKNOW, Aug. 8 -- Soundarya Jaiswal completed a memorable triple triumph at the AITA Championship Series, at the Vijayant Khand Stadium here on Friday. Rohin Raj also won a golden double in the boys section. In the U16 singles final Soundarya beat West Bengal's Aashika Jaiswal, the No 8 seed, 9-4. She followed that triumph with the U14 singles title, defeating state-mate Aashi Kiran, the No 4 seed, 9-2. Soundarya's success extended to doubles, where she partnered Aditri Singh to beat Ahana Das and Aashika Jaiswal of West Bengal 8-6 in a tight U16 final. The day also saw notable performances from boys' winners Tejas Singh (U14) and Rohin Raj (U16) but it was Soundarya's rare triple triumph that stole the spotlight. Tejas defeated top seed Rabeeb Ali Khan 9-7, whereas Rohin brushed aside fourth seed Virat singh 9-2. Rohin added one more title to his bag as while pairing with Virat singh, he defeated the duo of Kinjalk Srivastava and Rishant Jaiswal 9-8 (5) in the under-16 doubles final. Swimmers from Uttar Pradesh delivered an impressive performance, winning a silver medal on the very first day of the 42nd Sub-Junior National Swimming Championship at Jaipur on Friday. Competing in the boys' 13-14 age group 4x100m medley relay, Uttar Pradesh team secured the silver medal, clocking 2:09.69 minutes to finish second. The silver-medal-winning team comprised Raj Chauhan and Manas Singh from Sports Hostel Lucknow, Ayush Sonkar from Sports College Saifai, and Raghav Yadav from Kushinagar.
