Son shoots elderly father dead at busy crossing
PRAYAGRAJ, June 14 -- A 70-year-old man was allegedly shot dead by his son at the busy Lalla Chungi crossing in Colonelganj on Saturday morning. The assailant, who arrived on a motorcycle with an accomplice, allegedly opened fire on his father during his routine morning walk before fleeing the scene, police said.
The incident occurred just 100 metres from the Allahabad University police outpost, raising concerns about local law and order. According to police, a Dial-112 call was received around 7 am reporting that an elderly man was lying injured on the road, initially suspected to be a road accident victim. Police rushed the man to a nearby hospital, where doctors declared him dead and discovered a bullet wound on his chest.
The deceased was identified as Ram Dulare Kori, a resident of Lal Ki Sarai in Shivkuti.
ACP (Colonelganj) Vimal Kishore Mishra inspected the crime scene after visiting the hospital. CCTV footage from cameras near the crossing captured two individuals arriving on a motorcycle; the pillion rider was seen firing at the elderly man before the pair sped away.htc...
