PRAYAGRAJ, June 4 -- Police have solved the shocking case of four murders in South Malaka, Prayagraj, within 12 hours. The investigation revealed that Abhishek Vaishya, 38, first planned the crime with his friend Sunny Gupta, who later killed Abhishek following a dispute over stolen jewellery. Police on Wednesday said that Abhishek, along with Sunny, murdered his father Virendra Vaishya, 70, mother Anita, 65, and sister Meenakshi (40) at their home. After committing the murders, the two began dividing the jewellery they had looted. During this, an argument broke out, and Sunny attacked Abhishek with an iron pipe, killing him too. The case came to light on June 2, when Manjit Kesharwani, a relative of the family, informed police that the house had been locked for two days and a foul smell was coming from inside. When police broke open the door, they found the bodies of Virendra, his wife and their daughter inside the house. Later, Abhishek's body was found in a shop on the ground floor. Police commissioner Joginder Kumar said CCTV footage showed Sunny leaving the house, which raised suspicion. Sunny, who runs a samosa and kachori shop in the same complex, was taken into custody. During questioning, he admitted that Abhishek was under heavy debt and upset after being disinherited by his father. On May 31, they planned the murders to loot the family's jewellery. To mislead police, Abhishek had written a message blaming his brother and sister-in-law. After the murders, Sunny tried to destroy evidence by pouring cleaning chemicals and oil on the bodies and washing the house with hot water and detergent. He hid the stolen jewellery in his shop. The police arrested Sunny Gupta and recovered around one kilogram of gold, 360 grams of silver, Rs 1,000 in cash, and the iron pipe used in the crime. He has been sent to jail. In connection with the case, police commissioner Jogendra Kumar suspended two sub-inspectors for alleged negligence....
