Six schoolkids hurt as tractor-trolley rams auto-rickshaw in Badaun
Meerut, Oct. 1 -- Six schoolchildren were injured when a tractor-trolley, allegedly involved in illegal mining, collided head-on with the auto-rickshaw carrying them in Badaun district on Wednesday morning, police said.
The accident occurred around 8:30 am in a village falling under the Sahaswan police station area, they said. Superintendent of police (rural) Hridesh Kumar Katheria identified the injured as Bhagwati, 16, Kishanpal, 13, Preeti Yadav, 17, Nandkishore, 12, Ramgopal, 14, and Rajni, 11. All six are residents of Ibrahimarpur Garhi village and out of danger.
A police response vehicle and local police personnel reached the accident site and rushed the injured children to the Community Health Centre in Sahaswan. They were later referred to the district hospital for further examination.
According to police, Bhagwati, Kishanpal and Preeti sustained external injuries, while Nandkishore, Ramgopal and Rajni suffered internal injuries.
The tractor driver fled the spot soon after the collision but was subsequently apprehended along with the vehicle, according to police. A case has been registered against him. Police are also investigating allegations that the tractor-trolley was being used for illegal mining in the area.
