Six policemen suspended after pregnant woman dies in Firozabad
AGRA, Sept. 16 -- Six policemen were suspended by Firozabad SSP Aditya Langhe on Monday after a pregnant woman died following an alleged altercation with police personnel who had reached her house to detain her husband in connection with a theft case.
The incident took place in Labhoa village under Shikohabad police station limits. Police had suspected two youths of stealing from a grocery shop on Friday night and went to the house of Gaurav Kumar. His pregnant wife, Anjali (29), allegedly pleaded with the policemen not to take him away.
Police allegedly pushed her aside and took Gaurav to the police station. Anjali's health subsequently deteriorated and she was taken to hospital, where she died.
Meanwhile, Rajya Sabha member and Samajwadi Party leader Ramjilal Suman has demanded registering a case of murder against the six policemen suspended by the Firozabad SSP.
Suman and other Samajwadi Party leaders met the family members and lodged protest at Shikohabad police station on Tuesday. He blamed highhandedness of police for the death....
