Dehradun, July 22 -- The special investigation team (SIT) of the Chamoli Police will send the Network Video Recorder (NVR) from the CCTV cameras installed at the Badrinath temple to the forensic lab to recover old footage, officers said on Tuesday. They added that the SIT will also record statements of the four-member BKTC probe committee who carried out a parallel probe in the alleged Badrinath temple donation theft. Mahadev Uniyal, station house officer at Badrinath police station, said, "We will send the NVR from the temple's CCTV cameras to the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) in Dehradun for recovery of the old footage. It will help us in ascertaining whether the accused arrested were involved in theft earlier as well and if more people are involved in the theft." Police have been able to examine CCTV footage only from June 21 due to old footage being overwritten. Police said the two arrested accused, former temple officer Rajendra Chauhan and suspended personal assistant Pramod Nautiyal, were caught pocketing money and other precious items on multiple occasions. htc...
