Meerut, June 1 -- Moradabad police claimed to have cracked the murder of 22-year-old welder, Shahrukh, who was found shot dead outside a shop near his house in Jayantipur, Meenangar, under the Majhola police station area, on Saturday. The murder had been orchestrated by Gulvez alias Raja, the lover of Shahrukh's sister, Fatima, with assistance from a 16-year-old accomplice. The motive: Shahrukh had become an obstacle in their two-year-long relationship. Shahrukh was discovered dead on Thursday morning, shot in the head while sitting on a platform outside a shop. Initially, his sister Fatima filed a murder case against four neighbours - Amaan, Sajib, Anees, and Salim - citing an old enmity from 2016. However, police investigations revealed a far more sinister plot. Superintendent of Police (City) Kumar Ranvijay Singh said the breakthrough came through analysis of call records and CCTV footage, which identified Raja as a suspect. He was subsequently arrested from Karula Islam Nagar in Katghar along with his minor partner on Friday. During interrogation, Raja confessed that Shahrukh had come to know about his affair with Fatima and had barred him from meeting or visiting the house. Frustrated, Raja devised a plan to eliminate him. Approximately 15 days prior to the murder, Raja lured the minor with a promise of Rs.1 lakh to carry out the crime. On the night of the incident, while Shahrukh was engaged in a phone call outside his shop, the minor shot him in the head at Raja's behest. Both fled the scene but were later apprehended. The police also recovered the country-made pistol used in the crime. Further investigation uncovered a back story too. The minor's father had had a confrontation with Shahrukh two weeks earlier, during which Shahrukh reportedly beat him with a slipper. Raja exploited this incident to provoke the minor into seeking revenge, reinforcing his offer of money. This manipulation ultimately led to Shahrukh's murder. Civil Lines circle officer Kuldeep Gupta added that call records revealed Raja had spoken to Fatima both before and after the murder, raising serious questions about her possible involvement. "Her role appears suspicious, and action will be taken against her based on concrete evidence," he stated. Police said Fatima's claim that her brother was killed over a six-year-old property dispute turned out to be false. After thorough investigation, none of the four had any connection to the crime, and they were released. While Raja has been sent to jail following his court appearance on Friday evening, the minor has been presented before the Juvenile Justice Board and placed in a government observation home. Police are continuing their investigation into Fatima's role in the case....
