Lucknow, Aug. 13 -- The Uttar Pradesh government has decided to appoint three silver medallists of the 19th Asian Games as district youth welfare officers. The decision was taken at a meeting of a committee chaired by chief secretary SP Goyal here on Wednesday to consider the appointment of medal-winning sportspersons in government service. The panel approved the proposal to appoint rowers Nitish Kumar and Neeraj, and athlete Ajay Kumar Saroj to the post. The CS directed the departments concerned to complete all necessary formalities at the earliest and ensure that there was no unnecessary delay in the appointment process. He said the state government, under the leadership and guidance of chief minister Yogi Adityanath, was making continuous efforts to promote sporting talent and secure the future of sportspersons. Goyal also directed officials to ensure that the process of creating posts and appointing international medal winners was expedited in future. The three players had won silver medals at the 2022 Asian Games, held in Hangzhou. Nitish Kumar and Neeraj won silver in the men's rowing event, while Ajay Kumar Saroj bagged silver in the men's 1,500-metre athletics event. htc...
