Siddharthnagar BJP leader expelled over objectionable video
GORAKHPUR, Sept. 17 -- The Uttar Pradesh unit of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Tuesday expelled former Siddharthnagar district vice-president Gaurishankar Agrahari after an alleged objectionable video of him went viral on social media.
The clip, reportedly filmed last week in Bansi tehsil, shows Agrahari in a compromising situation with a girl, sparking controversy. BJP district president Kanhaiya Lal Paswan reported the matter to senior leaders, prompting swift action.
Confirming the action, BJP state secretary said the decision was taken after consultation with the regional president. "In view of the complaint received from the district president and considering the impact on the party's image and reputation, a decision has been taken to expel Gaurishankar Agrahari with immediate effect," the statement said.
Meanwhile, Agrahari denied the allegations, claiming the video was doctored and part of a political conspiracy. He said he would present his side to the leadership.
Circle officer Bansi, Mayank Tripathi, said police are investigating the video and verifying the girl's age.
If she is a minor, legal action will be taken under the POCSO Act and other laws....
