LUCKNOW, Oct. 27 -- Siddharth Mishra of Lucknow and Amolika Singh of hosts UP Badminton Academy clinched the men's and women's singles titles, respectively at the UP State Senior Badminton Championship, notching up thrilling wins, at the Uttar Pradesh Badminton Academy here on Sunday. In the championship, which offered a prize money of five lakh rupees, Daksh Gautam of Agra while pairing with Sonali Singh won the mixed doubles title, while Rama Singh of Aligarh and Sonali Singh were crowned champions in the women's doubles category. In the men's singles final, Siddharth defeated top-seeded Ansh Vishal Gupta of Prayagraj in a thrilling encounter 10-21, 21-18, 21-17. After losing the first game, Siddharth changed his strategy and won the next two games with accurate serves and excellent shot selection. In the semi-finals, he caused a major upset by defeating the second seeded, Neer Nehwal of Noida 21-19, 21-13. The women's singles final also turned out to be an exciting affair as Amolika Singh defeated top-seeded Divyanshi Gautam of Agra 21-5, 17-21, 21-19, troubling her considerably with her fast serves and superior strategy. Amolika won the first game convincingly, while Divyanshi made a comeback in the second. But in decider, Amolika secured the title with her powerful serves and clever tactics. Earlier in the semi-final, Amolika defeated seeded player Sneha Singh of Lucknow 21-5, 21-3. In the mixed doubles final, the pair of Daksh Gautam from Agra and Sonali Singh from the UP Badminton Academy won the title by defeating Kunwar Shivang and Sujata Singh of the UP Badminton Academy 21-16, 21-8. In the women's doubles, the pair of Rama Singh from Aligarh and Sonali Singh from the UP Badminton Academy defeated Shivangi Singh of NER and Sujata Singh of the UP Badminton Academy in straight games, 21-12, 21-15....
