Shankaracharya slams Ram Temple Trust
Meerut, June 27 -- Shankaracharya Swami Avimukteshwaranand Saraswati on Friday launched a scathing attack on the Ram Temple Trust, alleging that the temple's administration has disregarded Hindu scriptures, the Vedas and the traditional guru parampara from the outset, while accusing the BJP of promoting what he described as "fake Hindutva."
Addressing a gathering during his 'Gavishti Gau Raksha Dharmayuddh Yatra' in Sambhal district, the Shankaracharya alleged that appointments to the Ram Temple Trust were made solely at the discretion of political leaders instead of being entrusted to eminent Hindu religious authorities.
"Neither the scriptures nor the Vedas nor the gurus have been respected in the Ram Temple from the beginning. It has only been the will of political leaders. Whoever the leaders wanted was made a member of the trust," he said.
He argued that if transparency had been the objective, the responsibility of constituting the trust, constructing the temple and managing its affairs should have been handed over to the four Shankaracharyas, the Ramanandacharyas and other prominent Hindu religious leaders.
"If everything was meant to be fair, they should have asked the four Shankaracharyas, the Ramanandacharyas and other acharyas to form the trust and manage the temple. Instead, they filled the trust with their trusted associates and preferred workers. That itself suggests their intention from the beginning was to indulge in financial irregularities," he alleged.
The Shankaracharya also questioned the investigation into the alleged Ram Temple donation embezzlement case, claiming that the eight individuals named in the FIR were merely staff responsible for counting cash donations.
The Shankaracharya, whose yatra entered Sambhal around 8 am on Friday before he addressed a large gathering at a banquet hall on Moradabad Road in Rajpura, also launched an attack on the BJP. htc...
