LUCKNOW, Sept. 5 -- The Uttar Pradesh government has terminated the services of 26 government doctors who had remained absent from duty for prolonged period, while departmental action has been recommended against eight others for negligence, disobeying orders of seniors and inappropriate behaviour with patients, deputy CM Brajesh Pathak said on Thursday. Pathak directed ACS, medical, health and family welfare, Amit Kumar Ghosh, to initiate action against the doctors. "The health department is a highly sensitive department. No medical officer or employee who tarnishes government's image and fails to fulfill their duties and responsibilities will be spared; strict action will be taken against them," Pathak said. He added, "Providing better health services in the state is our commitment.
