Meerut, March 14 -- A self-styled godman has been arrested in Pilibhit district for allegedly raping a 23-year-old woman on the pretext of giving her medicine that would help her conceive a son, police officials said on Friday. The accused, identified as Bhagwandin, a resident of Balrampur village, had reportedly been practising occult rituals and offering traditional medicines to locals for the past four to five years. Police said he allegedly used the promise of ensuring the birth of a male child to lure victims. According to officials, the case came to light after the victim's husband filed a complaint with the police.
