School bus falls into gorge in Haldwani
Haldwani, Aug. 29 -- A school bus carrying 30 students skidded off the road and fell into a gorge in Haldwani, Nainital district, on Thursday morning, police said, adding that there were no casualties but some of the passengers received serious injuries.
Lalkuan police station inspector Dinesh Phartyal said, "The BLM Academy school bus was en route to the school when the driver attempted to give way to another school bus near Bareilly Road. In the process, the vehicle lost balance, skidded, and overturned into a ditch. Locals rushed to the scene, broke the bus windows, and helped rescue all children safely."
He said that 14 children, along with the bus driver and conductor, who sustained serious injuries, were immediately taken to the nearest hospital. The driver has suffered a fractured leg. ....
