New Delhi, Aug. 15 -- The Supreme Court on Friday upheld the quashing of a criminal case against Andhra Pradesh chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu and urban development minister Ponguru Narayana over alleged irregularities in the Amaravati land pooling scheme, cautioning that political battles should not be fought through criminal proceedings or judicial platforms.
A bench of CJI Surya Kant and justices Joymalya Bagchi and V Mohana endorsed the Andhra Pradesh high court's decision to quash the FIR, while making it clear that its order was confined to the facts of the case and would not affect any other pending or future proceedings concerning rights of farmers. "Do not fight your political battles in court. Do not use judicial platforms for your political moves.It may or may not be a case of political malice but certainly one of legal malice," the bench said.htc...
