LUCKNOW, May 27 -- Lacking police protection, the Lucknow Development Authority (LDA) failed to take possession of land in Sector A of the Basant Kunj housing scheme, once again. The setback has once again delayed the hand over process, leaving plot allottees in limbo. The LDA is expected to announce a fresh possession date after the proposed survey concludes. Despite notifying all departments and scheduling the possession, LDA officials had to retreat from the spot due to the absence of police personnel. Sector A of Basant Kunj one of the eight sectors under the scheme spans around 85,713 square metres and includes 272 plots of varying sizes (72, 112, and 200 square metres). It remains the most affected zone due to unresolved land-related issues, as previously reported by Hindustan Times on May 9. LDA secretary Vivek Srivastava confirmed the development and said the authority has now agreed to the farmers' demand. "We spoke to the Kisan Union. They asked for a detailed survey of the area before we proceed. We will fix a new date soon and complete the survey within one or two days," he told HT. "Without the police force, we couldn't proceed. It was a setback," said a senior LDA official on condition of anonymity. "All our teams reached the location and began discussions with the farmers. Many of them came forward to talk, but the absence of police presence limited our actions." During the brief interaction lasting about 20 minutes, several farmers requested the LDA to conduct a comprehensive survey of the land and mark the plots, especially those overlapping with existing structures. Meanwhile, residents and plot allottees continue to express concern over repeated delays. "We've been waiting for years now. Every time there's a new hurdle," said Ramesh Yadav, a local farmer whose land falls under Sector A....
