GORAKHPUR, Oct. 3 -- An alleged dispute over a speed breaker turned fatal in Deoria on Thursday when 55-year-old RSS worker Rameshwar Tiwari was allegedly beaten to death with lathis and sticks in Bhikham Pur village under Lar police station. Tension following the killing prompted the deployment of additional police forces. DIG S Channappa and Deoria SP Abhijeet R Shankar visited the village and met the bereaved family. A preliminary inquiry found alleged lapses in police action, following which the DIG suspended Lar SHO Rakesh Singh, sub-inspector Ram Murat and beat constables Chandrabhan Bharti and Pritam Yadav.
