Rs.90 crore earmarked for Ram Katha Sangrahalaya project
LUCKNOW, Oct. 18 -- Ram Mandir construction committee chairman Nripendra Misra said on Saturday that the Ram Katha Sangrahalaya project would cost Rs.90 crore, adding that a detailed project report (DPR) would be prepared and tenders floated soon. Misra was in Ayodhya to review the ongoing construction work at the Ram temple.
"Around Rs.90 crore will be spent on the Ram Katha Sangrahalaya project. Its detailed project report (DPR) will be prepared and the tender floated soon," Misra told mediapersons on Saturday. He added that the project would be completed within six months of the tender being finalised.
"The Hanuman Gallery will now be known as the Sankat Mochan Gallery, and its construction has already been completed," Misra said.
The museum will house artefacts and antiques of religious significance recovered from the Ram Janmabhoomi campus during the construction of the Ram Mandir in August 2020, Misra said. A separate script is being prepared for each gallery and will serve as the basis for its design. Depending on the theme, each gallery will feature either a 3D video or artefacts related to the life of Lord Ram.
One gallery will be dedicated to Lord Hanuman, using advanced 3D, 5D and 7D technologies to narrate stories from his life. Episodes from the Ramayana, including the birth of Ram Lalla and the victory over Ravana, will also be showcased.
The artefacts include broken statues, pillars, a kalash and a five-foot-long carved Shivling. Experts have restored these items using scientific methods. Documents chronicling the 500-year-long struggle for the Ram temple will also be displayed.
The Ram Katha Sangrahalaya was initially planned within the Ram Janmabhoomi campus, but the proposal was dropped due to security concerns. The state government handed over the museum to the Trust in October 2023 after signing a memorandum of understanding (MoU).
Built in 2015 at a cost of Rs.12.31 crore, the museum spans three acres and has 18 rooms housing around 150 artefacts from the Ramayana era. The Trust is now revamping the museum without altering its external structure....
