Ahmedabad, June 14 -- The Customs department at the Ahmedabad airport has seized 24 gold bars weighing 2,799.3 grams from the lavatory of Indigo flight 6E-1478 arriving from Dubai, officials said on Saturday. The seizure was carried out on June 12 during a routine inspection of the flight upon its arrival at Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport. Officers from the Air Intelligence Unit (AIU) discovered two pouches wrapped in black plastic tape concealed within the speaker box of the aircraft's front lavatory, said an official privy to the details. "24 gold bars weighing 2,799.3 grams and having a market value of Rs 4,26,89,325 were recovered during rummaging of IndiGo flight no. 6E-1478 on Friday from Dubai to Ahmedabad," an AIU release said.
