Rs.25cr PDA land sold illegally by Atiq's aide
PRAYAGRAJ, Oct. 4 -- More than 1.5 bighas of Prayagraj Development Authority (PDA) land under its Kasari-Masari Housing Scheme was allegedly sold illegally around 15 years ago, with over 20 people later constructing houses on it.
Several two- and three-storey buildings, including several homes, have come up on the land, estimated to be worth over Rs.25 crore.
The PDA has surveyed the property and is preparing notices to the occupants. The land was allegedly sold by Chandan Singh, said to be an associate of slain gangster Atiq Ahmed. Officials are probing the transactions and encroachments.
PDA Zonal Officer-II Suraj Patel said a preliminary probe indicated that Atiq Ahmed had allegedly executed a fraudulent power of attorney for PDA land under the Kasari-Masari Housing Scheme in favour of local resident Chandan Singh, who was allegedly involved in its sale and purchase.
"Preliminary information suggests that sale deeds were executed for plots at different locations, while buyers were given possession of PDA land in the Kasari-Masari Housing Scheme. Revenue and ownership records, along with documents submitted by those who constructed houses on the disputed land, are being scrutinised," Patel said....
