PRAYAGRAJ, Aug. 20 -- Police and revenue officials have attached properties worth around Rs.25 crore allegedly belonging to Jaiprakash Dubey alias JP Dubey, a gang leader and associate of slain mafia-turned-politician Atiq Ahmed, officials said on Wednesday. The action was carried out on Tuesday under the leadership of Sadar sub-divisional magistrate Ankit Verma and ACP (Dhoomanganj) Ravi Gupta. The attached properties include 7,482.66 square metres of land spread across 10 plots in Shaha alias Peeplagaon, Rahimabad, Kathula Gauspur and Chandrabhanpur, Sadar SDM Ankit Verma said. According to police, Dubey, a resident of Shaha, also known as Peeplagaon, has nine cases registered against him at Airport police station and one at Dhoomanganj police station. During the investigation of a case registered under the Gangsters Act at Airport police station, police allegedly found that he had acquired the properties with money earned through criminal activities and by intimidating people. A local court on August 17 ordered the attachment of the properties under the Gangsters Act. The Airport station house officer has been appointed administrator of the attached assets.
