Roads, lanes leading to Padma Awardees' residences to be beautified
VARANASI, June 6 -- The roads and lanes leading to residents of Padma Awardees in Varanasi will be beautified, and the Varanasi Nagam Nigam (VNN) will spend Rs.30 crore on this ambitious project. The Nagar Nigam has already initiated the process; this will not only alter the appearance of these areas but also facilitate smoother commuting. Additionally, the corporation is offering a special 50% concession on house tax, water tax and sewer tax to freedom fighters and Padma Awardees.
Varanasi is home to several Padma Awardees like Padma Shri Rajnikant famous as GI Man, Sitarist Pt Shivnath Mishra, Prof Devi Prasad Dwivedi, Physician Prof Shyam Sundar, Prof Kamlakar Tripathi among others. Mayor Ashok Tiwari said, "It is our duty to honor Padma awardees and freedom fighters. We are committed to beautify every corner of the city. Providing a better life and basic amenities to our brothers and sisters living in underserved settlements (seva bastis) is also a priority for us. By the end of this year, the face of these settlements will be transformed."...
