RMLIMS CVTS head suspended after five residents allege harassment
LUCKNOW, Aug. 22 -- Dr AP Jain, head of the Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgery (CVTS) department at Ram Manohar Lohia Institute of Medical Sciences (RMLIMS), was suspended on Thursday following a complaint by five first-year resident doctors alleging misconduct and mental harassment. RMLIMS director Dr CM Singh issued the suspension order and attached Dr Jain to the registrar's office. Dean Dr Pradyuman Singh has been given additional charge of the CVTS department. A two-member inquiry committee will examine the allegations, relevant facts and available evidence.
Dr Singh said the action was taken to ensure an impartial inquiry and prevent influence on the investigation. Residents alleged Dr Jain made late-night phone and WhatsApp calls, including on holidays, and issued patient-related instructions, causing mental pressure. The Nursing Association revived earlier complaints and sought an impartial probe. Dr AP Jain did not respond.htc...
